    Here's one I bought raw and thought was a LOCK for a CAMEO. Unfortunately PCGS did not think so, and graded it PR66. I do wonder what they saw that I didn't... maybe the jowel area? If so, that is VERY picky...

    @Skyman

    Sorry to hear your Franklin is not cameo.
    I see definitely cameo devices, PCGS is wrong in this case.
    Maybe they downgraded the coin since it' s lightly hairlined on the jaw.:(

    Picked this up for melt last week. I got 3 of them and after a second look I realized this one is a proof.

    You can tell by? it was minted in philly and no mint mark or is there other details that give it away?

    It really is that color, a nice brownish gold. What causes toning on both sides of a coin like this one? I especially like this coin as it's not only an FBL but it has aged well too.

    so true I just picked up a 1954-D MS64 FBL. Can't wait to add it to the collection.

    The Franklin, as far as overall coinage goes, is simple but still bold in its design, IMHO.
