Likely coming to a toning premium thread near you soon...

A Dominican Republic pattern for a gold coin, but struck in silver (they were actually struck in a number of different metals). This is listed in the Krause Unusual World Coin Guide and the mintage is estimated to be 40.

I have always found these two related coins to be intriguing.

They have incuse (concave) and relief (convex) designs that would theoretically "fit" together. Quite low mintages (2,500), and I have actually never seen another pair.

Let's see I took that by placing the coin in a flashlight reflector, then crop it. I wanted to show the edge lettering.

You got it, sorry for the delay, been busy, busy, busy.

I have these 6 graded. I have 2 more being graded the Ike & Morgan O/S. The Morgan is very unique. When I get them back from ANACS I'll get a shot of them all together. All are hard to come by, I was very lucky to obtain these. Mintages, Brass 21, Copper 21, Silver Polished 43, Silver Satin 35, Antiqued 7, MS Plated 13, Morgan O/S 21, Ike O/S 11......Also my pictures do no justice to these medals, lots better in hand.

Here's the Ike O/S. The reverse shows parts of the host coin. Can you see them?

Here's the Morgan O/S which has become my favorite. The obverse and reverse show parts of the host coin. The obverse is like a puzzle. It was stuck on a 1886 Morgan. What parts of the host coin do you see?

I like all of them, thanks for posting them. Those bars though, are really making me regret not getting at least one of them. :( They are very nice, and are growing on me. :)

I can definitely see signs of the host coin behind Merlin, and even more on the reverse (?) Very nice.

Here's a couple medals from Relentlessdefender.com. incredible in hand. Pics don't do them justice. Super high relief especially on the "Honor the Fallen" piece.

I am a US coin guy, so where would you go to purchase a spider coin.

I would start with EBAY. There are some from Australia, as well as other countries. I can tell you that the one I posted is not cheap though. There are a few that are much closer to silver spot price. Try a search for coins with spiders, or similar.
