That medal commemorates the 100th anniversary of the "restoration" of the Netherlands. The inscription says "Netherlands restored by Prince Willem VI of Oranje Nassau 1813-1913".

In 1813 the Netherlands became independent again, after several years of French control and occupation. A few years later the southern part got its independence from those Netherlands (and became Belgium) by the way. Willem (William) VI became King Willem I. And "Je maintiendrai" (I will maintain) is the country's motto. Don't know who designed the piece, sorry.

Edit - Apparently the signature says something like "T (...) Laars"; did not help me either. Anyway, the lion with the sword and the arrows represents the Netherlands. Also, the fence refers to the "Hollandse tuin" (Dutch garden), another old symbol of the country. In this case, the lion (Netherlands) fights against the rooster (France); on earlier and later medals the enemy would be a Spanish, British, German ... animal.

Is it real rubber, by the way, loaded with sulfur that will blacken any silver touching it? Or maybe silicone, which is nonreactive?

The French mint (Monnaie de Paris) issues a series of coins this year which commemorate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. One piece I find quite interesting ...



Looks like one of those concrete segments that the border wall consisted of, with a larger vertical part and a sort-of-horizontal "foot", right? Well, this piece - not issued yet - will be as flat as a coin. Just not round ...
