I am just a bit bored. Woke up too early this morning a little stressed out because my transmission in my truck needs a rebuild, It's gonna cost me a lot of coin buying opportunity's for a while, plus I am temporarily out of work because of it.

Anyways I was going thru some of my Roosevelts and transferring the silver Rosies into a Library of coins album. When I came across this 2004D doubled ear, this is the same year of the Wisconsin high leaf and low leaf variety state quarter. It is unknown whether there were some nefarious activity's going on in the mint, although it is suspected.

I first saw this variety in the cherrypickers guide. Variety Vista does not include this coin in their archives, not sure why maybe they haven't examined any examples? Wexler does show this as a doubled die and shows an overlay.http://doubleddie.com/1570265.html

What are your thoughts on the variety?
Please post any Double Ears if you have them.

I think the variety is unknown because it is scarce, Cherry pickers guide as of 2012 has a URS of 2, which means at the time of the book their were 2 known. Mine at least makes #3.

Most class IV (offset hub doubling) as in @spirityoda 84' Lincoln is doubled in one direction. The 04D Roosevelt also has a rotation. It technically goes beyond the boundaries of the definition.

Both of the coins exhibit a partial second hubbing.

I enjoyed the read from Error-ref.
    http://www.error-ref.com/class-iv/
Please give a click down at the bottom of the page where it says HERE for a good look at the last doubled ear to fall in the class IV category.

After 89' the mints went to the "single squeeze" method of producing working dies.

I always enjoy seeing your Doubled Ear @spirityoda.

That's the best Doubled Ear I know of. The others don't compare to it. They are so lame.
