For some reason, much of Carr's original figural work doesn't really appeal to me -- just a matter of style preference. This one, though... that design is really nice.

That was struck by the Intaglio Mint, not by the Moonlight Mint.

 

Ah. That would go a long way toward explaining things, I guess.

 

My Christmas gift to myself

 

Here is a new one I picked up the other day. Not a small mintage 1100. Some of these had Medallic rotation and some had coin alignment.

 

Merry Christmas y'all....

Picked this one up on Ebay.....Antiqued, only 3 made.

Guess he had to leave off the denomination, or else he would've had to restrike each of these over a genuine J-1.

Overstruck on what we believe is a Lincoln 2010D Golden dollar without a collar.
Some were gold plated.

Good news Dan is replacing the order.

 

Replacements arrived along with my other items.
The 1862 P& RR Smith has the wrong insert.

 

I just re did the 1793 Flowing Hair

 

These first 16 (proof-like) show significant die scratching and numerous
small struck-through particles adhering to the central obverse figure.
Eight of the 16 were treated to post-strike bulk-handling
