Had time to get a better shot of the Merlin/Morgan O/S last night. This shot shows some of the host coin date.

    Is it a 1883 or 1888.....thanks for any input. 2017-07-22 03.25.48 - Copy - Copy.jpg 2017-07-22 03.25.48.jpg

The top of second digit looks a "little" different (thinner) than the first. I'd guess it's a '83. Not absolutely sure though. Cool O/S. Not seeing colors, is this a hologram???

'83 is what I'm thinking. No holograms on the Ike or Morgan Merlin's.

Got my grades back on the Merlin's, about what I expected.

    5 - 69s
    1 - 70 (Brass Hologram)

Thank you for clearing that up Dan, I really like the look of this O/S. If I had been a Knight last year I would have bought one of each, at least.

Nice grades on all. The brass holographic 70 both surprises, and confounds me. Just curious as to their (TPGS) ability to determine grades on these. The criteria etc...

This is my latest Daniel Carr ( @dcarr ) coin. Only 140 made and none sold directly to collectors. As a former Submariner this coin holds a special place in my collection. Thoughts on the surface issues?

It kind of looks like pvc haze but unless the original owner put it in a pvc flip I don't see how it would be. A quick dip in diluted ezest should remove whatever it is though.

Thats my plan, have some on the way. already have distilled water to dilute with and then rinse with. What ratio of water would you recommend with the speed dip?

50/50 should do. Rinse it well afterwards though

No change after dipping, multiple times/multiple strengths. Called a halt before I did any damage. Did put it in my own air-tite so at least I know the holder isn't causing damage. :(

Then it was struck like that. Could have been something on the planchet that Dan didn't catch.

I did think about that, it's why I tagged him in my first post, hoping he might have some insight.

He's probably very busy getting ready for Denver. You may have to wait a bit for a response.
