2005 10 Yuan, commemorative of the 600th anniversary of the first of Zheng He's historic sailing voyages. In 1405 he put to sea to project China's might with a fleet which could have easily defeated the combined navies of Europe at the time, a force projection likely not to be duplicated again.
This is the only one I have at the moment. I'm new at this. Thank your daughter, you and your family for her services .
I guess I'll do my part in resurrecting this thread. On the left is a 1977 Ruble depicting the protected cruiser Aurora, best known for its involvement in the October Revolution of 1917.
I have three medals with ships/boats on them. Here’s the launching medal for the USS Nautilus, the first nuclear powered vessel (technically a boat): Here’s the christening medal for the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier: And here’s a medal given out by Westinghouse, the contractor that designed the reactor plants for the Nautilus and the Enterprise. A boat (Nautilus) and a ship (Long Beach, a nuclear powered cruiser) are featured on this one. All three are in their original packaging, which make for very nice displays for the medals.
Normally, I'd 'necro' this thread, but there is just too much excellent stuff in it to see so a bump is well OK in my book.
Notice the wind in the sails of the middle ship is not consistent with the other two-- this is the coin I would have also chosen Sidney Osborne
