This is my favorite Bust Half. In 1986 I bought a house in bad need of repair. The same month i bought a Bust Half from Bowers And Marena. The person who assisted me on the phone was James Ruddy. (He did the first photograde book) I told him I wanted an XF coin but with as many die cracks as possible. Coins is an Overton 104A Years later i used a free submission from the purchase of the PCGS book to have it slabbed. I was in shock for weeks after I got the coin back. VERY naive of me but i could not believe the guy who wrote the book on grading would call it a 40 and PCGS slabbed it as a 35. James
It's still a nice coin. Don't let the grade difference bother you. VF-35 to XF-40 is a small jump and opinions and standards come into play. If the coin was sent in again today, it might come back as a 40 but it's not worth trying.
I was going through my dupe stash looking for what I can force myself to sell when I ran across a few busties that I haven't shown here (at least not in the last couple of years).
