I also have a B. Max Mehl catalog from 1928 numbered # 47169. The Major Variety and Oddity book is from 1981 and the Foreign Coins Struck at the U.S. Mint is from 1964. I bought the U.S Paper Money book new in 1977. Lou
I would like to read the last one you show there I think it is quite interesting to see who the US Mint has produced coins for :smile does it go into the why bit? the reasons behind the coins or does it just list them
"Foreign Coins Struck at US Mints" just lists countries, US mints, mintages, and dates. However, it is not a small book as the US made lots of coins for other countries.
De Orc, the book those does not go into detail just the production numbers, year and the mints that struck the coins. Here's and example: Lou
This is going to break some hearts.... An old Bowers Hathaway catalog May 1970 1909-SVDB BU $195 1910 Matte Proof $59 1912 Matte Proof $87.50 1955 Doubled Die SHARP AU 5 for $1095
I have a few of those around here somewhere Jack..... A collector I once knew had a auction of all of his stuff since he was in a Nursing Home and I was able to buy boxes and boxes of coin books for maybe $1 each. Some of them had water damage and had to be trashed but some where still in great shap. I bet I got well over 100 Coin Mag's....50 Auction Catalogs and such. Fun fun!! Speedy
For attributions I'd say the Overtons (4th) but the best for the intricacies about the coin is Bust Half Fever. Those are just my thoughts and everyone has their own opinions, so... Take Care Ben
Couple more to add to the collection LOL the Argentinian one turned up this morning and again is full of useful info including scans of the sig used on the notes The Chinese one is that heavy I scaned the dust cover only LOL
Bone, I have never seen pictures of any area that truly represents the definitive man cave as much as yours. Awesome...
I used to collect coins of Britain and Commonwealth minted during the reign of King George VI (1937-1952.) The coins are long gone but I still have the catalogues. Just as an aside, I've never seen a catalogue accurately describing the coins of British India during that timeperiod. For US coins I have the usual general books (Red Book, ANA Grading Guide, etc.) That sort of stuff. Also have Breen, and the two Cherrypicker's. But I also have gotten interested in some of the older, lower face value coins so I also own: Breen's US Half Cents (1793-1857) Flynn's Two Cent coins Logan's Federal Half Dime (1792-1837) I haven't gotten really serious about those coin, but I'm ready
Wow, Ben! Thats my kind of library! Everything a guy could want in one convenient pile. Wish my wife would give me a space like that. My space is confined to my workshop, and I'm not about to put anything that could melt, like book bindings, out there....too hot. Guy~
Thanks for the kind words. I've got it all covered from Astronomy, Microstudies and CornCob pipes to Politically Incorrect Art, Sports Cards/Memrobillia, Home Defense, and books which cover it all. I would be lost without this Center for Nonlinear Thought and Action... Take Care Ben
