Back from the show. It was great for me, and for many others.

I'm interested in examining images Jack. I'll PM you my address, in case you care to share more.

Images received Jack, thank you. Will examine after the holiday. Family, food and football are priorities . . .. Happy Thanksgiving.

Just finished writing a short article on this one; "discovered" by Newman in the mid 60's this example was sold as a "struck copy" in a 2019 Stack's auction, submitted to a TPG and slabbed as genuine MS-63! I was told my Coin Week article on the subject was used to help prove the "authenticity challenge" and the coin removed from the slab. I was the underbidder in the auction and the winner offered it to me recently to add to my odd collection...

Planning to send this one to ICG for a proper holder (@Insider ):D.

Unfortunately, I think there are less than a half dozen folks in the country with as good a collection of extremely deceptive fakes that have passed the major TPGS as you have assembled and you are the only one of them posting on CT. So, while many of us have fakes, they are really not up to the ones you can post.

Nicknamed the 1795$ a "vampire" $ @mrweaseluv for the two common bite marks! I actually wrote a Coin Week article on a "family" of these.

This one for sale on an auction site was posted on another forum about 3 years ago. I knew nothing about Barber dimes. While most people commented on the porous surfaces and bad date, I started digging into details of the reverse and existing documentation. This led to the discovery of a third reverse hub type! Had I known anything about these, I would have quickly seen that both the obverse and reverse are the wrong type, and not gone any further. Neither type existed before 1901, so it's an obvious fake. As we see on this thread, a good thing about fakes is the opportunity to learn and potentially find something new.

Agree KBBPLL; this thread is how I learned of the counterfeit 1901-S quarter and what to look for!

Doesn't matter! I was hoping to see more than just mine (I see them everyday) and learn of new ones like I already have in these posts!

I can't believe they're counterfeiting relatively common dates. But then I've always been hopelessly naïve.

The bird on the reverse doesn't look remotely MS to me.

    I can't believe they're counterfeiting these either!

Screenshot_20211222-182250_eBay.jpg There's this guy on eBay (and others) who seem to have an inexhaustible supply of MS silver dollars. They appear to be reputable dealers and they sell so many that I feel they'd have been taken down if they were selling fakes. Does that make sense?

Rolls of silver dollars "broke open" this week for the first time!

    I'm sure everyone's seen these...

1895-O is the key (outside the 1894-S of course) and quite valuable so it makes sense.

From threads elsewhere I think the seller with the old bank checks background is famous for artificial toning, and many of them end up in TPG slabs.

Figured as much. I don't know dimes so I'm a willing customer for that fake! Not to mention the half dollar in the OP.

Here, something on-topic from my hoards. Mine are the kind you'd identify in three seconds or less.

Love the "1799" LC @Marsden ! The 10$ note would get past me all day, but I admittedly know nothing about them.
