I agree, its a beautifully toned coin. I also
really like the toning on the 1898 Quarter
in AU 58 and the 11-S Half in MS 63.

    K: Is the 11-S's MM a RPM ? -
I have two 11-S's in my better set
    [ MS 66 & MS 64 ] - one with the RPM [MS 66]
and one with the normal MM.]

    [ My 2nd set has a VF 35 and the Dansco has a F15 -
    both with normal MM's]

Thanks again for posting your coins - love 'em all ! :smile

Here's the coin that started me collecting Barber Halves.

    My Grandfather found this coin in change back in the 1940's;
when he passed away, my Grandmother gave me his coin
collection and I have lovingly taken care of this coin for just
over fifty years. PCGS feels the coin has altered surfaces.
Maybe if I had dipped it out - it would have holdered. I just
couldn't fiddle with this coin - it means too much to me:

Who cares what it graded in that case.

The title still goes to my friend, Ron at NGC Registry - that's his "handle"
and mine is "Elbesaar". There is one set of Halves at NGC owned by YeOldeOne - which put both Ron and my sets to shame. He has just listed
his #1 NGC set at PCGS and because of the quantity of NGC coins, he's
only in the top ten at PCGS. His set rivals the # 1 set at PCGS [ Dr. Duckor's Set of Halves ] but PCGS won't allow any coin in their Registry with it being a PCGS coin. NGC accepts both NGC & PCGS coins.

Dr. Duckor's set is at auction in Boston this August at the ANA; I'll be there along with all the other Barber collectors - Shireman, Duckor, Friend, Holsonbake and Appel; I hope that YeOldeOne shows up too - I'd love to meet him.

Another friend from Virginia / "Chuck" - [who collects Proof Barbers and has a three sets going in all denominations] - will be there if possible. My good friend Dr. Soles / "UMakEm" introduced this proof collector to me last year and I was blown away by the quantity and quality of the coins in my presence. Lets put it this way, an executive from Heritage hand delivers this collectors winnings. No joke !

Its always fun to discuss Barbers [ at least to me...]

Here are a few from my 2nd Half set - 1892-P-O-S - All PCGS:

    P=XF 40; O= AU 50; S = XF 45
    I'll post these later.

Here's an 1892 Half I owned a few years ago... this is the only pic I could find and the color came out a little weird, but it was a pretty one... graded MS61 I think.

Come on everyone... we can't let this thread drop off the first page... surely there are more Barbers out there!!!!!!

Here's a really pretty Barber Quarter that I used to own, but decided to trade it (was a hard decision!!). This one was in the Dale Friend Barber Collection previously:

    Wow stunning!!

The one you posted before this one doesn't look like it's make MS to me.
    But this one is incredible.

Yeah, the 1892 Half was pretty close to the line I think either way. It was a PCGS 62 at one point, then it later became an NGC 61.

Dale Friend's quarters were/are just amazing. Was very proud to have owned the '16-D from that set and I still have his old '09-D in my set and that one I'm not going to be foolish enough to let go anytime soon. My real dream coin is the '09-O that was in Dale's set which was later in the Sunnywood set which was eventually sold as a complete set. I saw the set including that '09-O at one of the Long Beach shows and like most of Sunnywood's set, that one is a monster!!!! Here's the PCGS TrueView of the coin if you haven't seen it before:

    Mike,

Did you ever look at Labelman87's set of Quarters - on the PCGS Registry ? He has a 1909-O Quarter in PCGS 55 with the most vivid toning I have ever seen.

Your date set for 1909 is without comparison. Best of luck with the Half Eagle from New Orleans.

That is a very nice circ example, wow. I don't think I had seen that one before. With the CAC Gold sticker that one would likely sell for at the MS64 price if ever sold. I really like his 1892 quarter too.

Thanks Mike, someday I'll get a nice AU58 or so New Orleans Half Eagle... however, each time I have saved up I've found other coins I just want more :)
