Just found out that Heritage will be doing lot viewing of the ANA coins in Beverly Hills on August 1-2!!! Will hopefully get to check out many of these great Barbers in person! It's a bummer they don't bring out the Internet only portion of the coins, but I'll at least get to see all of the coins that will be going in the live auction.
This is the coin that started it all... an 1892 Half pulled from circulation by my Grandfather back in the mid 1930's. The coin was stored in a box with other coins for thirty years - then in a 2x2 cardboard holder flip. Here are the rest of the 1892's...
A previous owner, most likely THE previous owner; part of the provenance of the coin. Some day many of these beautiful coins will have Elbesar's name or Elbesar-Hayes to further the provenance. May enhance the value as many collectors like to own what was considered choice enough to be part of a great collection.
