WoW I don't have any that have never been used. Guess I'ld better get them ready to show & tell....and thanX for the show thus far.:thumb:
Mike K's 1909 Barbers are a beautiful group of Gem coins... I was fortunate to be able to buy one of his coins when he upgraded his 1909 Nickel. [ I just can't locate the image now...] Here are a few of my 1909's ... [ others will eventually follow ]
Wow...I don't collect Barbers, but after viewing some of these photos, I might have to start! Some of those coins are absolutely stunning.
Thanks Mike. Here is your 1909 Nickel I originally bought it from Andy Skrabalak of Angel Dee's and it is a very PQ example for an MS64... probably should have kept it
I'm really pleased to see so many posts to this Thread. Great looking coins - regardless of the grade. That's one thing I really like about collecting Barber coins [of all denominations] is that there are great looking coins from G-6 to MS 68. I posted an 1892-O Half earlier - here's its Philadelphia sister:
That's a great looking 1909 Quarter !!! Just enough rub to remove the luster but the coin retains almost all of its detail. :thumb: ------------------------------------------------------ Here's the 1892-S Half in my better set:
I agree Mike, what a healthy looking Barber!!! Can just imagine it being 100 years ago and walking around with a pocket full of those, maybe a few S-VDB's too, and being able to have a full day's fun with them Ok, ok.. time for bed :goofer:
All beauties! What are the grades on the slabbed ones? I really love the honest tone and wear on this 1911-S half. Thanks for sharing.
thanks, Krispy! the dime is an MS63 (anacs, old holder); the quarter is PCGS AU58; the 11-s half is MS63, and the 03 half is PCGS VF30. When I bought the raw 11-S half on eBay I had forgotten I already had one in MS. I think the circ one is nicer, in some ways. Eventually I would love to have an AU58 half of the caliber of some of the ones posted on this thread!
Here is the 1892-P Half - but the TDR - although not designated on the PCGS holder - it was on the ANACS 58 Holder. I don't know why PCGS neglected to add the TDR to the holder.
