Oh wow I didn't know that you specifically collected matching serial number sets. I don't have any. If your ever looking to get rid of one, you know where to find me lol.
I posted about the matching sets earlier in this thread, I just now thought about posting the scans. I already liked the general idea, but two 8006's was the only match I had found/bought before the 2009 LI opportunity. Now I have 3 8006's and a bunch of doubles. my collections are focused on recent stuff, so no wonder I'm spending a lot of time in this thread.
I guess it's debatable whether or not this '09 NY'er is collectable, but it's soooooo close to being a repeater. Kind of breaks my heart a little to come this close.
I see four separate digits, not three: 4,5,8,9 I'm not a huge fan of trinaries anyway, but that's just me I like near-miss serials even less than completely uninteresting serials, but that's also just me. In today's mail: L00001572I (from a dealer) A run of 10 EA $1s (from a fellow collector) A sheet of 32 $1s straight from the BEP: C99067674A through C99997674A (skip 30000) saving the highest 16 (C99547674A through C99997674A) I prefer the shape of a 16-bill sheet to the shape of a 32-bill sheet. It also saves money on frames and allows me to sell/spend the other 16. Larger sheets are cheaper per bill, so I don't like buying the smaller sheets.
Odd, about a quarter of the $1s I see are 2009's. Probably a similar proportion of $10s and $20s. Seeing a few $50s. I'm still waiting on circulation-issue 2009 $5s though
75% of the straps of $1's I go through are Series 2009. As for just getting change from stores and stuff, I'd day 90% Series 2009.
I see 2009 $1's all the time, but only certain Fed districts are common around where I am, for $1's. So far I've spotted '09 Boston, New York, Cleveland, Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago, and Dallas in circulation (that's both from strap searching, and in change). As for other denoms, I see 2009 $20's just about as much as the $1's, $10's are a little less frequent, as a majority of the $10's I find are still series 2006. I've also spotted a few '09 $50's in circ, but, like Alan, am still waiting to find some '09 $5's. As for the '09 NY note I posted, I think it will get spent. Near misses aggravate me, and as the saying goes, almost doesn't count. Thanks for the feedback, guys.
Found these brand new (AU, only very soft wallet fold down the middle) '09 Atlanta F-C block notes today, while out and about. I know they are probably nothing, but does anybody happen to know the run size of this block? Info would be great, and very much appreciated. Thanks!
Yep, already went there, and in the serial number table jumps from the F-B block, right to the F-D block. No F-C block notes are listed. However, I did click on the "how to read the monthly production tables" link, and in the example listed, it looks as though if a block is not listed in the table, than the missing block is a full run of 96 million. The example given: A 832 00001 K A 128 00000 M Means that A 832 00001 K through A 960 00000 K, and A 000 00001 L through A 960 00000 L, and A 000 00001 M through A 128 00000 M, were printed. Notice how the omitted A-L block is a full 96mil note run. So, it would appear these F-C block notes are a full run. Rats!
Question, I was thinking of getting an uncut sheet or two. First are they worth it? meaning will there be anything worth down the road on uncut sheets? (I know we should take collecting as a hobby and not to make money) Secondly are the odds of getting anything worth wild i.e. star notes, binary numbers, something interesting like finding a needle in a hay stack? Also is it worth buying a couple 4 uncuts vs a 16 uncut sheet? (any difference?) Thanks guys
For a while, I was pulling 3-4 $1 star notes out of my stack searches per day. It slowed down now that I currently don't have so much extra time to go through thousands of $1's per day. It also slowed down when my bank started searching everything for me. They get all star notes for me and all old bills. I thought about buying an uncut sheet once, but I couldn't figure out how I would store it. I'll tell you what though, if I was going to buy an uncut sheet of anything, I'd make it a Series 2006 big head non-colorized $5 uncut sheet. I bet these will demand the highest premiums in the near future. The link below is where I first started purchasing my notes from 3 years back when I first started collecting. IMO, he happens to have a great deal on these particular notes, along with the less common HF-B block. Let me know just out of curiosity if you end up buying. http://www.dollardealwholesale.com/...o-Design-5-Dollar-Bills-Series-2006_p_24.html -Travis
Nice! I am on the constant lookout for Cleveland and Boston, but none yet. I do have really nice versions of NY and Chicago, as I previously posted. Are those all circ finds for face? Did you find them strap searching or from tellers? Both mine are teller grabs.
Most of my star finds have been 2006's. However, I've seen a fair amount of lightly circulated Boston and New York 2009's. I've kept the best examples of each and spent the rest. tbudweiser, I could save my next Boston find to trade to you if you want. No Cleveland or Chicago yet. http://forums.wheresgeorge.com/showthread.php?t=130839 WheresGeorge forum thread discussing the distribution of Series 2009 over time.
