Nice coin.... CoinTalk needs a smiley face where the guy drools from the mouth. it would probably 1 of the most common smileys.
Although NGC calls it 58 I can't see any wear, even the shield seems to be full. But I don't mind, it's a gem anyways.
You are correct! It is a Gem I just can't see any reason for that low of a grade. The Shield still maintains all or most of it's rivets and I don't see any wear on the high points but trying to grade by photo is very difficult.Sometimes they mis-label the coin.I bought some slab ed and graded MS-70 American Eagles the other day and the label said MS-70 when I looked up the numbers to verify certification I came back as an MS-63 Morgan Dollar. Of course after a chat with PCGS they corrected it. Just Saying!
Now that is cool. I like coins with character, and that one has loads of it. I like to think about where circulated coins have been, what has been purchased with them, and how they got in the condition that they're in.
This is how the seller described this coin A nice, even very pale hue beneath which must luster resides. Absolutely devoid of metal problems.
I think I own one in certified conditions might be a 62 or something but I just want a few choice ddos
Arrived today. Maybe we can jump start this thread again. After all, this is the SLQ's 100th anniversary
