Those look nice. So far I haven't gotten any world silver from my LCS, because he pulls those before they go in his world coin bin.
This are some of the random coins I have picked up out of the coinstar reject bin over the last couple of months. Some were collected by my co-workers and given to me. The Silver dime I walked by twice before I stopped and picked it out of the tray. I guess it didn't register the first time I saw it. The medal of Stephen and Joseph Montgolfier is interesting. I was helping a customer who jammed the machine and it was what caused the jam. He told me he didn't know where it came from and gave it to me. I did some research and found that it was made both in Silver and Pewter. I has the correct weight and diameter for the silver coin(21.3g and 38mm) but it just doesn't look and feel like silver. The two brothers are credited for inventing a hot air balloon in 1783. This medallion is also associated with TWA, so who know where it came from. Maybe someone here that collects medals may know more about it. Sorry about using the scanner, but all my cameras are packed. My wife and I headed to Colorado early tomorrow morning on vacation.
Just looked that Montgolfier medal up. Pretty cool - the pieces were apparently given to passengers of that airline. (This list http://library.princeton.edu/libraries/firestone/rbsc/aids/newman/#1490 mentions some silver version. Ah, those were the days ... when flying was more "exclusive" than nowadays.) The 1 quetzal coin with the peace dove looks cool, I think. Enjoy your trip! Christian
