Wow- great coins!!!!!! Jello- I thought your 43 was graded, NGC and looked different than that one? Great 1909 and 39
Back in 1955 I heard about the Double Die. I was hording VDB's & Steelies. This was when you could spend a nickel and get change back. In this change could be found VDB's & steelies....easy pickins'. Heck. Saturdays Mom could send me out with a dollar and I'ld go get a hair cut, buy a coke to wash down my moon pie, play a game of pinball (with 5 balls/game) and when I got home she would demand the change!:rolling: Now I finally see my 1st real 1955 DDO and the whole thing is doubled!!!! Even the Great Red Book only shows a doubled date. Kick me with my own boot but THAT'S a beauty!!
rockdude, that is some coin you got there buddy.... LOL This is one I am trying to sell, just listed at my site today as a matter of fact. It is a NGC MS-66 RB Toned to perfection.
There was a story out there once about Q. David Bowers. He was a young man at that time and thought they were worth more than what they were bringing. If I have this right, he collected a really large group and sold them later, making a wild profit. I'm thinking they only brought a few dollars in 1955.
great coin Thad. Where's the obv? Jello- you never answered the question (assume you didn't catch it)? Is that the same 43 that was graded that you have?
Found my 1962 15th Edition R.S. Yeoman. An EF DDO 1955 was listed @ $55. UnC $95. But you know how that book always overvalues stuff. But they DID have a full Obv photo. I just thought the rotogravure was a little funky back then.
