Wow- I don't know if I got unsubscribed to this thread, because I did not see any of these posts til today. When I saw RLM on the Buddy List last night it made me think of this posts. It usually pulls him out of the wood works :loud:. Thad has got some beauties and Jim's rolls and on and on. Especially like the 27 S of THad's!!!!!!!!!!! This was my avitar for a while: 1920 MS 64 RB PCGS. 1916 S MS 63 RB (anyone like the beard detail?) This coin was sent NCS due to big carbon spot on the back which they got off with their supersecret MS 70ish, turn your coins bluish/violet sauce. No problem to me. Makes an interesting coin.
I like that 16-S. Nice strike and the stripes add some character. Well struck 25's are rough to find. BTW, I may have done at least my share to keep this thread going, but it is not my thread. Hopefully, I will have enough energy/gumption to start taking pix again - SOON.
DJBuna, I would sell as a set if they are all similar in condition of spots, toning, etc. However, if there a a few corrosion coin starting, or on the other hand, a real beauty, maybe separate into groups. If you are going to keep them..They are in Coinmaster pages in the photos, and if they have been that way since the 70s, or even much later, they may have damage/spotting already due to the PVC plasticizers in the pages. I like Coinmaster albums with their ease to make the labels what you want, but change the pages to their new PVC-free pages. Jim
Jim- that 54 S is a 67 to me. Why do you have the 65's touching each other? They are going down to 64th avenue real quick. You no make coins go touchy, touchy please :kewl::desk:. Just messing
What does pop 1/0 mean. I assume the finest coin for this grade? There are MS 66 RD's. I own one. Is this a Satin finish?
Thad- I always change my mind on how to store coins. It is ridiculous, or maybe just part of the fun? hya:. Either way, I like this idea, except the coins rotate. If you used more staples it wouldn't I am sure.
Got from AJ. Nothing too rare, but nearly perfect for me. MS 66 RD Got this 30 S 64 RD long time ago from my dealer.
only one certified at this level and none higher. However, that means no BROWN's have been certified as MS-66 or better. Satin finish was only used for the proofs. This coin is MS
I wish I had time to contribute more here. My day job has me burried, I have not even updated the site recently. JimM, SO GLAD to hear that Harco has non PVC pages available, I loved those albums. Great stuff folks. I love checking in and seeing the new pics. RLM, get better bud, we miss your contributions here alot.
Nice to see you back Boss!!! Not sure if I ever posted this one. Its NGC 64RB 21 S. A Nice strike for the year. AJ picked it up at a coin show last fall. This coin rocks!!!!!!!
Looks Like I can see the whole thing. Its a NGC 64 RB, It's one of my favorites in my collection. I'll try to take a close up of the beard thru my loop tomorrow. Is the detail of the beard an indicator in a weak strike like the 21 S?
It is just fairly common for coins from that era not to have a full beard probably more from overused dies than weak strikes and generally thought of as a plus to have the full beard. My 21-S also has a full beard, but it is only 63 BN.
