I agree here. Would hope for a 65 but with the conservative grading I bet a 64 RB on the 09. Have this 1930 at PCGS now. Hoping for a 65 RD but am expecting a dissappointing 64. Should get back in the next few weeks:
Here's more: Somebody stop me: I've lost my mind!! Guess the grade?? This was sent to NCS secondary to developing rust much worse than you can currently see on Lincoln's forehead and unders "IN GOD". Any idea why this develops? I have bought at least 3 coins this has happened to. Rust is from Iron which is not a metal in Lincolns. Since I can't start new posts (something wrong with my computer?) I have to jump on already started posts. Sorry to all for getting off topic
I don't know about that 1930-, but it is a better strike than either of my 2 66's. But that scratch on the wheats is going to hurt. I would go with 65, but.............
No, it devloped prior to being in slab and sent to NCS, then to NGC. They calmed it down a lot so I was happy. But what causes this?
Well I don't think it's rust, it just looks like it because of the color. What I have always called it is the beginning stages of copper corrosion. Left untreated those kind of spots usually do 1 of 2 things - they turn into black carbon spots or they turn into verdigris. Your 2nd set of pics do a much better job of showing the spots BTW.
That's a nice one. I assume it's not yours by the way you described it. MS 64 Red? Too bad someone talked over that coin and then slabbed sometime later. I'd still take the coin too for a discount.
Real nice RLM. Looks more RD than RB. Like it better than my 12 S. I could live with the spots easily.
That is possible. I will try to get a better pic later tonight. What I did catch is that there is a die crack from each "T" in trust toward the head. You can definitely make out the lower on the pic I posted and I can sort of see the top one since I know where to look.
