VERY few are straight graded. But an inverted 2 digit was struck, then the proper 1 digit struck over it. NGC describes it as the rarest variety for 1852. Bottom line: No one has seen the NGC MS61 example since it was certified. I have seen the PCGS VF35 example and have handled the PCGS VG10 example, which traded privately in November for thousands. They just aren&#039;t out there. Like I said, I&#039;ve been looking at every 1852 3 cent silver for about 5 years trying to find them. And I&#039;ve now found 2, both polished.
