A little something else to consider in case you only have a single coin. The lettering on the Type 1 coins does not have any serifs whereas the Type 2 coins do: Serfis are those little dodahs that stick out from the letter. Note specifically how the top of the M comes to a sharp point on the Type 1 but are flattened with serifs on the Type 2? Additionally (I never remember this one), E PLURIBUS UNUM lines up differently on the Type 1 than the Type 2:
why would the mint even worry about correcting, modifying etc. such a minor difference in a coin. Like Wide AM's and subtle modifications they make to the die. They should focus on designing national park quarters.
BOO Hiss! Bah humbug as usual from you... if you can't post an Ike don't post a comment at all. Here's a nice circulated 72-D I recently won in a CT contest from RickieB.

Very Nice Clean 72-D Krispy:bow: is that a Talon Clash I see in Ike's temple? Stewart[/QUOTE] Thanks Stewart. I'm not sure about the clashing. Here are some more shots and one detail of the forehead in case it helps you see anything.
And that is why these will be the sleepers of our time. Nobody collected "VAM" Morgans back in 1921... and now look how popular these are today.....and how valuable some are. The same will happen with the IKEs....mark my words. I promise you that these will be the next big thing for generations to come and yes.....they are all ending up in the "junk box" at many shops. But for those of us who do collect these and have fine specimens, we will be pleased with the results years down the road.

I disagree, Ike's are actually a very challenging set to complete if you are collecting all the major varieties and looking for nice examples. It has clad, silver, proofs, and varieties in a short set and they are big coins. They are a great set!
Thanks Buddy!!! It was all I could do to keep up with last nights fun and excitement on CT, the likes of which are seen every few years.
Yeah, it has a lot of corrosion from being buried and came out with an even-ish pattern, but what is neat to me is that you found the large sized modern dollar detecting. Wouldnt be the sort of thing I'd expect to find. Good job!
yea, at first i thought it was a large washer but nothing cam out of the middle lol, i cant wait till spring/summer so i can get to some old places in the gold country and hopefully find silver hal or dollar
A 1st class bunch of reply's & 1st class member's too! I always have been told it was the LL in dollar that made a type 10or 2 thanks for updating me!
