Don't u worry.....I have three Ike's that just visited Tom k and are both second known dds that are being sent off to anacs. Plus a bunch of Ike's coming back from cac. Plus three that I am waiting for to come back from pcgs. All kinds of good stuff happening here and I will be sure to share it. Joe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I too have some coins on their way to Tom (not sure i'll have the same results, but it's my first realy attempt at DDO's and is more of a learning experience). I do however have a Night Crawler that is at PCGS right now making the grade. Fingers crossed for PR69DCAM (went through their restoration service to get the haze off), but PR68 is more likely. PR69DCAM from PCGS could make that worth over a grand...
I always get nervous when Tom calls. I never know if it is going to be bad or good. Lol. Congrats on that night crawler. That sounds awesome. Can't wait to see pics of that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I know what you mean, I had a couple of coins that I think will make FS attribution from PCGS for the CPG recognized varieties, but i figured I'd let Tom look first instead of getting them back from PCGS listed "Minor DDO" instead of FS-101. Also have a Tiger Claw / Talon Head that I might be sending to PCGS as well. It has a carbon spot (unidentified surface spot) on the reverse, and if the resto of the Night Crawler goes well I might use it for this coin too. Tiger Claws are rare, but a Grade A Talon Head on top of it is awesome!
Ha I know what u mean too. I told Tom about the coins I sent off to pcgs and I got reprimanded because they may not be what I thought they were of what they think they are so I told him that as soon as I get them back I will send them to him so he can look at them. I do not have a iPhone When in Black writing that Free tapatalk on Samsung Dart that more like a Fart I plan to upgrade asap.
Joe, looks like your PCGS coins, and CAC coins made it back back. Sent you a PM on the Ike Group about one of the FS-103's. Just picked up a 72 FS-101 and a 73 FS-101 the other day. Since I restarted my collection I feel like I'm going backwards, hahaha. I'm picking up a lot of the rarer varieties first, but I guess you gotta get them when they are available. Did the grades come back as you had hoped?
Hey Bryan, Of course, I was hoping that ALL the coins would come back PR69DCAM, but obviously that was not the case. Good news though was that one of the 103's did come back a 68CAM which is one step up from what I had. So I was happy about that. So now as you saw, I have two 103's PR67CAM for sale and a really nice 1972 FS-101 for sale. That came back a 68DCAM. So I was happy about that. My CAC experience is anything but to be happy with. I sent in 10 IKES and only 3 came back CAC'd. I couldn't believe it! The ones that I expected to come back didn't come back with the bean and the ones that I thought might be questionable for the green bean came back with it. The only good news out of the bunch was that there was one coin that I have been convinced that it was undergraded. I actually revived an old thread of mine on the IKE forum which shows all my original pics. It was the second or third known "Bear Claw" variety noted at the time. That one came back with the bean which I was happy about. Another side note, many of my PCGS slabs were in bad shape when I got them back. Broken and chipped and such. I'm going to call CAC today to find out what happened.
Yeah, the Bear Claw is on my list of coins I want. I read the thread this morning over on the Ike Group. With CAC, just because it didn't sticker doesn't mean it's over graded, just that it is not in to rankings of that grade. That sucks that they came back damaged.
I posted some more info on that Double Clipped Freak Show coin over on the Ike Group. Some very interesting oddities were found when I put it under the scope this morning. You'll have to check it out if you get a chance.
