ff-topic:But still Ike related Has CaC now sticking Ike made the prices go up??? Will a sticker make a PR-69DCam- MS-69 any better??? I know the not to many PR-70DCam or MS-70??? Brain fart:devil: 1st post 50-100 seller @ Cointalk
CAC will not sticker Proof Ikes. There are no MS70 Ikes. As far as the stickers go, in theory a green bean should net you a better price than an unstickered slab. I have seen Gold Beans going for a lot more money.
Definately worth a read. A lot of good information about an underrated series. It really has a lot to offer to a lot of different collectors. There are tons of varieties, many are naked eye visible. There are colorful toners, and the basic series can easily be collected. From there you can make your collection as involved as you'd like.
That is what I feared :devil:CaC:devil: bean would make them jump.Ya I knew there were no MS-70 MS-69 is the top and not a big population for any date in the series
I don't know if CAC will cause an increase. The way the market is, CAC should insure you get the full suggested price, while non-CAC coins tend go for slightly less than suggested. Side note - PAGE 100!
I hear Ya!!! I have seen some crazy $Green Bean coins. I buy the coin not the sticker+the idea if its green its Better??? that no all ways true.
I don't know if I fully agree with this statement. By design, the Green Bean Coins are designed to be the very top of a given grade's population. Ideally, Green Bean stickers go to the coins that are exceptionally strong coins for a grade. That doesn't mean that if a coin doesn't sticker that it isn't worthy of the grade on the slab, but only the best will receive stickers (or at least that is what they are saying). That being said, I do not believe they take into account if the coin has a + or a *. They treat all of one grade the same. So by theory all + or * coins should be shoe-ins for stickering, but again this isn't always the case. In order to keep more money with the TPG's, you will probably see more of these + and * grades as they try to capture more money and keep people away from CAC. This however doesn't take into account that not all coins will go to CAC, so you could very well find an unstickered coin that is as nice if not nicer for the grade than one that is CAC'ed. If that is the case, I would suggest resubmitting it to the TPG for regrading. If we're talking about comparing Green Beans to + and * grades, I would rather have the +/*. Although Gold Beans are still the outlier (I wouldn't mind some of those ). (By all means, if I am incorrect please correct me, this is just how I have come to understand things.)
Hopefully it has inspired a few people to at least look at this series. Right now, aside from collecting Silver Proof Sets, this is the only series I actively collect. There is so much to still be discovered with these coins. New and undocumented varieties are out there begging to be found and shared.
View attachment 262822 This is a FS-103. PCGS graded it PF-69DCAM last week. James Sego was able to cross it from an NGC holder. Right now it is the only one to pull down the grade.
I have a sweet OGH Limey Ike. 74-d MS65 if you're interested. Send me a PM. I went a little overboard on Limey slabs the other week and decided to part with a few of them.
Alright guys, i was looking at my NGC FEV MS66 under my USB scope this morning (still trying to figure the thing out) and came across this: I am thinking it could potentially be an RPM. Anyone out there seeing it also?
It looks smushy, but I'm not sure about an RPM. It looks like the punch caused a die chip inside the D.
