I've never seen a woody Ike before. This kinda looks like a paint brush effect. Notice how in the letter "Y" of Liberty, it's solid black; like too much stain settled there. - I'm not knocking your coin at all, and I'm in no way a "toning expert". - Still a very beautiful coin in my opinion.
I have seen woody Ike's before, but this one is pretty striking. Nice addition. Also, check out my newest! PCGS 1974-S Silver MS-68
Yeah, I had a little help in finding it. It's an Ebay Coin and it was listed under Historic Memorabilia > Cities & Towns. Not sure if that was where they meant to put it that category (probably not), but I'm glad I was able to scoop it up.
I think your going to be surprised that the coin looks much better in hand then the images you no doubt got off PCGS after you bought it. Those images do nothing for the coin but are certainly better than the sellers, I hope you like it....
This one looks quite nice with minimal ticks. Not sure what it might grade but thinking 66 not sure 67.
Just won this off eBay for my toned proofs happy to add another to the set....:hammer: Forgot to mention that its clad not silver....
Thanks....you have some beautiful ones too. I am doing a toned Type Set so I put all the money into two toned coin examples.
Recent find, my first clipped ike, from a $1000 bag. Anybody know what these are worth? It weighs 1.1 grams or so less than a non-clipped Ike.
I only bid on it because its clad and although target toning is common on the silver coins of this year, i find it much harder to find on clad coins. I find it odd only because it didn't come in a blue box, i believe they came in the smaller proof sets including all the other denominations. I got it for pretty much however much somebody paid to have it graded so if i find a monster clad 74 in the future it wont break my heart to upgrade...
Here's one I got off the Bay a few weeks ago. The outside left edge is purplish, not black as it appears here, and the blue hues are much nicer along with a golden tone, not rusty. I absolutely need a better picture setup with much better lighting, this does not do it justice.
