Ok, that's it. I'm sold. As soon as I get back to the US, I'm starting my Ike collection. I have a few already, but they given to me here and there. My only really serious example if from the 1976 3-piece silve set. Now I can't wait to add to it !
Got this one in change. The photos actually did a good job of capturing the toning on the coin. I exchanged this with a guy I work with for a dollar (which I bought two sodas with) as he'll appreciate it much more than I will. I also gave him a 1776-1976 Ike as well that I also received in change. My lucky day.
I love that coin.... I know what you mean, it's addicting. I have one Dansco of Ikes now, I'm starting another, and I was just thinking of maybe building a collection of just S mint mark Ikes, maybe MS and PF only....
I never really liked Ike dollars, but every time I go to a bank I ask for them and now I enjoy getting them. I am saving them up to use on my honeymoon next year should be fun watching peoples reactions when I use them.
... Cool pics guys, keep them coming. I have almost completed my IKE set and will post pics when complete. Erik
Great picks guys. I have 2 of 3 Ike sets complete. My "from the wild" set was challenging, but complete. Essentially it is the business strike set in a whitman that were all collected from circulation. Then I have my Dansco Album, and finally my PCGS set. The PCGS set is complete with major varieties, and i'm working on the minor varieties now. I need to shoot some pictures of the coins to upload to my registry set. Any suggestions on how to best photograph the slabs, specifically the lighting?
I wouldn't worry about that! I am not going full awesome like you on the Ike set. Here's the one I just got. Nothing special, common toning, but the prices are right for these.
Here's my latest purchase from a collector on the IKE Group Forums. Nothing special except that the coin is NOT an FS-901 but simply a regular ole 1971-D! I like collecting these PCGS Boo-Boo's as it reminds me that not every variety that's been attributed by PCGS is "correctly" attributed and caution should be used before paying big bucks simply because the label says FS-xxx. I ran across a similar coin on Teletrade that the opening bid was $300 + 15% Buyers fee. Close examination of the pictures led me to believe that it may have been improperly attributed.
I am not going full awesome just semi awesome, I think 19LYDS went full awesome on his Ikes..... Excellent coin though, common toning pattern or not....
