The main thing is that this forms a cycle of deceit and fraud. As the Slabbers try to tighten their grading standards, the CAC stickers respond by readjusting their criteria to the new grading standards. Which then causes the slabbers to adjust again, all creating a new market of fear, but not based on any real market product. In the end, the slabbers can never win in this situation, always being the fall guy for an ignorant and misinformed market. this cycle of fraud is exactly why such a system is illegal in real financial markets. It inevitably creates a system of fear and fraud. Ruben
Can anyone help me with a grade on this 1972 type 2? I was thinking AU due to all the contact marks, but after seeing TopCat's, I am not so sure. Let me know what you all think.
It's hard to tell from Photographs but that scratch on the Obverse might be considered damage and not contact marks or wear. Ruben
So I was pretty close then. The reverse looks really nice with almost no marks and nice luster. The obverse, not as nice. Lots of marks on it and a little dull. Overall though I am happy with it since I picked it up for face value a few weeks ago. Ike's are not my passion so I will be selling it so I can buy more of what I really love. Thanks all.
I am a fan of the Ike dollar for many reasons, but especially like the 1972 Type 2 aka "the king of Ikes." It has a great history (mint experimenting with high relief reverse struck with proof die) with an estimated maximum mintage of only 100,000. Even if not a fan of Ike dollars, this one to me is always a keeper in any grade. TC
Some real nice coins being posted. Getting kind of hard to keep up with the thread. since the change I do not receive e-mail notifications when someone puts up a new post Forgive me if it takes a while to respond:headbang: Terry
I"m having that problem too. Never heard of others having that one. Just the scrolling problems but lucky me I have both lol
