Marshall, Heck yes, why not it has Ike on it By the way Beautiful examples. The one below sits on it's holder on my desk Terry
Those are pretty stunning examples you posted there, Green. Interestingly, it is getting high grade MS's that is really hard for nearly the entire series. Ruben
...the high grade MS's are readily available, it's paying those high premiums that are quite a big hurdle.
Recent purchase. Hard to find those 71 P's that are not all bag marked to death. There are a few on this one. But I am still happy with the purchase. Terry
Stopped by one of the coin shops today. had half an hour to burn before meeting the Mrs. for lunch. Have not had the opportunity to stop in there for a couple months. Came out with a couple of nice surprises Here is one. Terry
Nice pick up and a nice strike. :thumb: Is there some tone on the obverse near the 71 in the date? And what are the spots around ONE on the reverse bottom? Tone or corrosion? Both areas of obv/rev may be related. Maybe someone had something on their fingers holding the coin by that edge. What do you see in hand?
Krispy, Thanks, From what I remember when photographing this coin. It had Verdigris from handling I think. or sitting in a bucket with hundreds of other Ike's I found it in one of those $1.25 Ike Bin's at a local coin shop. I do not like to do anything to them such as wiping or anything else like that. I shoot them the way I get them Might try some Acetone once I learn more about it. I do not want to damage the surface, It has Great Cart Wheel effect on this one. Once they reach my hands they are handled with Kid Gloves. What has happened to them before me I have no control over. Terry
Thanks Jello My Favorite way to find them. except for face at a bank. Both of which is getting harder and harder to do.
I think I realized why I like IKEs so much.....I was just reading through some old fraternity stuff and saw where IKE was in my fraternity...Tau Epsilon Phi.
I'm sure that one of you Ike nuts can tell if this is the 'rare' 1972-S type two? I've just begun studying the Ikes and I'm not sure about this coin. Thanks.
Bone Head, If it is a 1972-S that is the normal earth for that year and mint mark. The one that is hard to find is the 1972-P with that same type 2 earth. Hope that this helps. http://www.ikegroup.org/72P3EARTHS.htm Terry
