Krispy, I think the Earth looks weak because of the way the light is falling across the coin. Grade I would say is a MS64-65 due to Ike's Jaw Line and some marks on the Eagle. Mr. Brooklyn is that 71-S a PPL? looks like there is a break in the frost on the "O" in GOD at the 7:30 position and the "R" in LIBERTY looks like a pegleg
mrbrklyn, Give this a read and break out the Loupe You may be pleasantly surprised:smile Then again I may be wrong. http://www.ikegroup.org/PPLSEPT08.htm Terry
I'd get that into an archive quality hard plastic coin holder, FWIW. I'll read that link tonight, but looking at it quickly, I still don't think that you have a pegleg on that coin. If anything, it looks like an early strike with the fattening of the leg of the R about where it should be in a high quality strike. ... unless we are talking about different coins
Yes Sir, we are talking about different coins I already had Rob Ezerman at the Ike Group look at mine. I was talking about the 71-S you posted Terry
You think my coin is a pegleg? I've reviewed my Ikes and I never determined any to be a pegleg. I'm not even sure which Ike that was since I pulled it out mostly to test the new camera. I'll look again. I was joking about guessing the year and type, but if you did, I tip my hat to you. Was your coin, the one with the supersharp cameo, was that determined as a Pegleg variety? Ruben
"Was your coin, the one with the supersharp cameo, was that determined as a Pegleg variety?" Ruben, It was determined at this point that it is probably just an old die state proof die that the dies had been polished a number of times. Due to the shrinking of the size of the stars on the reverse. All of this was done with photo's with Mr. Ezerman. After the release of the new Eisenhower Dollar book at the August Boston ANA Convention I may send it to him. So that he can look it over in hand along with another that I think could almost be a twin to yours that I have.
Used this: +++ Nice coins! I think I got them all... Try using the link code like I have it in the post title.
Does This Count? Two Shots for the same coin. Neither is adequate. This shows surfaces, but not the cameo. This shows cameo, but details get washed out. Nice shots of my camera lens.
