1972 This is my only raw Ike and it appears to be on the verge of toning. The actual color is more subtle and almost looks like a haze on the reflective surface. Someone had posted a color progression. Is a light green the first or is something messed up with the photograph or my eyes?
Here is the moon closeup. I'm just learning about Types so I'm working on which one it is. Three choices for 1972. I'm thinking Type I.
OK. I'm failing types. I can't find Puerto Rico. How about a closeup showing a peg leg and a normal for comparison? Perhaps a brief explanation of the difference?
The Peg Leg is about the vertical line holding up the letter. It is shorter then normal and squared off.
Here something new to look for a 1978 peg leg! http://ikegroup.sslpowered.com/ikeg...8&t=1165&sid=b4b74b723c64ff4496132047f1676536
Thank you very much for the post jello! That's my coin. :smile Very surprised that I found a 78D Peg Leg only a few days after I had found my first ever Peg Leg Ike, a 1972D. Chuckster 125.
Now you guys have me distracted from my coppers and as luck would have it, the local coin club met tonight and I picked up two Ikes at their auction. Since I'm unfamiliar with them, you'll have to help me figure out if I did well, or not... Sorry about the reflection of my camera lens around Ikes face. 1973 Ike listed as MS 65 for $14 1973-S Ike listed as Silver Dollar for $7. It came in a blue envelope with 1973 Eisenhower Uncirculated Silver Dollar on it. It looks like Silver Clad to me.
Whats going on with the top Reverse on that 1973 coin? Is that just a poor crop job or is UNITED STATES of AMERICA really offset by that amount? And yes, the 1973-S is a 40% Silver Clad coin. Outer layers are 80% Silver and 20% copper around an 80% copper and 20% Silver alloy core. As of today, 6/11/2010, a $5.76 melt value.
I think it's a poor crop. I'm taking it through the cellophane and I got confused about the top of the coin vs the edge of the holder.
I purchased another $100.00 bag of Ike's from my local bank yesterday. I still can't believe what I found ! Three-1972P TYPE II Reverses :smile Die markers match all three as August releases. Still looking for a March release.
1973 S Uncirculated "Blue Ike" Is this a DDO? This a DDO? Only one listing on CONECA for a 73 S Silver Business Strike but there are no pics, just mentions it as a light spread on the "IN GOD WE TRUST" It looks like notching on the "N", the "D" and also on the R and the S. and the lettering does look kind of wide, but I don't have another 73S to compare it to. Opinions welcomed please.
Chuckster, First of all A Big Congratulations on the 72 Type 2 finds WOW three out of one batch. Very Cool. And Congratulations on the 1973-s DDO very nice notching in the serifs of the letters. Not sure which DDO number it is but is a Very Nice DDO Specimen. Great photos for having to shoot through the packaging Edit to add: Nice notching on left side of both of the "T"s also Terry
Yesterdays Coin Shop Finds. The one upside down in the group picture has larger photos below,1977 D Struck Through Grease Reverse. Have not had time to photograph the others yet. It was a fun day. Terry
Packaging Error I just noticed this on my 73-S Silver clad. There is a thread INSIDE the packaging. Has anybody ever heard of someone collecting Packaging Errors?
