One of these days I'll have a gorgeous looking Ike. Right now I only have raw, but I've been looking at buying a slabbed one. In the meantime, I came across this pic while clearing out some of the clutter. 1971-D FEV
@Cascade Here is my only Proof Ike. It just arrived in the mail today fresh off of eBay still in it's original box. Here's what I thought I was getting: Here is what I got: I'm pretty happy with it. I had no idea there would be such a cool iridescent greenish blue tone to it. I think I Like Ike. LOL
Yeah. You have to know how to translate axial lighting pics to in hand look. The only thing I don't like are the spots on the obverse that the lighting teqnique obscured. There was no way to tell from the sellers pics they were there to that extent. Still a nice brownie though But you do have just reason to return on the spots alone if you decide you don't like it. Give it a week and if you're still on the fence you'll always be in the fence
That's one thing I hate about eBay. Take a picture of the coin the way it looks in natural light. I don't want to see how it looks in your $5000 camera with photoshop effects.
1972-D Peg Leg with reverse die clash. Have two of them, can't remember if I got them same time or different places.
It's a Dan Carr "Moonlight Mint" 2016 Summer Seminar overstrike. Here's a thread about it but you have to wade through all the arguments to get to his explanation... https://www.cointalk.com/threads/dan-carr-summer-seminar-over-strike.280994/
These 2 will probably going to ngc soon as they are the only ones who will slab an ike as pl. Whatcha guys think? Maybe even a shot at dmpl???
#2, some light golden toning. I think.the mirrors are a touch better with thisone despite the light toning...
@Cascade, I can't speak for the PL or DMPL (although I think you'll at least get PL), but bonus points for using an unopened pack of Garbage Pail Kids to demonstrate!
