A roll of BU 1974 D from Apmex. Edited: All pass inspection for BU. YTD Inventory: 50 Goal: 100 Merry Christmas everyone Robert
Someone posted about a bicentennial Ike with a "P" mintmark over at CCF. Of course, no such coin exists, but in this digital age it's possible to at least see what an impossible coin might look like.
Need to get home from the inlaws to post, but my wife and her family came through with 8 Ikes for me for Christmas. Very happy with all 8. Got a 1971D (Looks like an FEV from what I can see using my phone's magnification, fingers crossed on that), a 1973D, 1974D, 1976D Type 1, Proof 1976S Type 1, Proof 1976S Type 2, 1977S, and a 1978S.
And finally the 71D. I tried to get some detailed close ups of the reverse, but was foiled by my cellphone. My macro lens that clamped so nicely to my old iphone 5 doesn't want to clamp on to the thinner 7. Some of the markers for FEV are still visible in the pic, but not nearly all of them so I am not sure if you all will be able to confirm it or not.
I was able to get the lens to work with my phone, YAY!!! I have some close ups of the reverse of the 71D that should help identify if it is an FEV or not...
Registry set upgrade time again! This time it's the most common of all Ike Dollars- the 1976 Type 2, with 113,318,000 minted. That's a HUGE number, but finding a really nice example is tough for this issue. Mine is a nicely golden toned specimen in MS66. Incredibly, there are a handful of these in MS67, but I'll be just fine with my 66. It fits nicely into my set.
