    I caught the thick lettering in Hand, But have not checked to see if it is a variety.

    Pretty sure that's a trick the light is playing. Washington's are notorious for that due to the deeply struck, thick letters.

    SkyMan is around, just going through a period of RELATIVE disinterest in coins. There are other things going on in my life. So, I'm only occasionally looking in on the forums.

    A lot of this stuff makes it out of the mint but now days the counting houses are required to send it all back. A lot of it is caught as they try to roll it.

    It looks like a '96-D to me but others can't be positively ruled out.

    Mont. That is awesome. My feeling, it must have made it's way out of the mint in a bag. I recall reading that if you turn mint bags inside out and check the seam, you can find certain types of errors. Fragments, and bowtie clips.
