Thanks for the nice comments, Paul. Given how nice the surfaces of this coin are and how there is no copper spotting at all, I was flirting with the idea of doing a regrade to try for a 66+ or maybe a rare 67 grade, even though I think PCGS would now call the coin BN instead of RB. They used to call anything with any color RB, but now it seems dark purple and blues usually get called BN. I didn't like the idea of losing an old green holder though, especially on a coin with zero spotting. Now that you mention that issue regarding MS70 treatment of coins, that is a really good reason to keep it where it is. Even if the coin upgraded a little, I doubt much real value would be added anyways. Thanks again for your thoughts and for helping me to keep it in the old holder
This Peace Dollar is one of my only toned coins. I stay away from buying them mostly because people want too much for toned coins. Especially on ebay.
Posted this in the "Let's See Your Newest Acquisitions" thread back in March... PCGS called it 66RB. (Pop: 4/3) This coin seriously covers just about every color in the spectrum. Sorry if images are distorted. $20 TrueView also bought me ridiculously high-quality images, but I can't figure out how to resize 'em to fit the CoinTalk file size requirement. Really? What'd I miss?..................... -Brian EDIT: Aaaah, I see. Thanks for the correction.
It is in the old ANACS holder. I love this coin, it's one of my all time favorites, it's an MS 62 and I don't think it's a DDR but I like it just the same. Thanks for asking, I never get tired of looking at this babe!! :thumb:
Brian, Stellar colors on that proof Wheatie. Love it. Edit: Is abe sad over something? I think he is crying.
Haha, I see what you're getting at. I think it's just a little glare. Actually, I was kind of disappointed when I saw the photo, noticing how there was an unusual amount of glare produced... But whatever. As long as the color's there, I'm happy. Thanks for the wonderful comments! -Brian
