Thanks. I'm starting to build a Type set of these without being concerned with the grade. My two requirements are that they be in NGC/PCGS slabs and have tons of eye appeal. Should be fun.
I bought a Jefferson album on ebay a while back. The seller had terrible images, and I really bought it for my kid. I won it for $40, and I just assumed it was a album full of circulated nickels and war nickels. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it and it contained some wonderfully toned nickels. Here is a sample of these:
Just picked this one up today. It won't arrive for a few days. 1948-P MS 65 FBL. I don't normally collect "Frankies," but fell in love with this one!
Honestly my favorite toning would be either rainbow, or a uniform color. Any color, as long as it's uniform. Spotty, uneven toning looks strange to me. o_o Here's an 1878 Morgan. The toning is a bit spotty but not so much as to ruin its beauty, I think it's pretty anyway. :3 And now my most prized coin out of my entire collection, a 1759 Spanish 8 real. IMO it's toning is perfect, the only way it could be better is if it were rainbow. The obverse is a uniform light brown, but the reverse has some purple and yellow hints to it if you tilt it back and forth. Unfortunately you can't see those too well in the pictures...
Wow, I didn't know crapugrade was still in existence. Nice coin, but the slab is--well, how can I say it??? Not worth much.
To others is not worth much yes! but for some old fashioned collectors they prepare or choose old slab specially the original TPG like this one!
