I bought this Merc from an eBay seller and this was his Trueview where it was formerly in a different holder. It's a 1929-D MS65 but he sent it in trying for a FB designation. All I've got but this is exactly what it looks like. Uh, the left half of the reverse, anyway. The obverse is toned but not nearly as pretty. Kind regards, George
Current cert # is 84994512 but there's no TrueView for that cert #. One of these days when I get a Round Tuit there will be ... Kind regards, George
Here's one that I call "Blazing Buffalo". I've never given a name to a coin, but I thought this one deserved it. The colors make me think of a Buffalo standing at dusk with a forest fire raging in the background.
Today's show find...an very nice 1913 D Type -1 Buffalo DDR-001 I won't post the grade until we do a GTG round.
I used to own this coin. I cracked it from an ANACS genuine holder (questionable color) and submitted to pcgs with trueview. It was graded genuine questionable color. I then sold the coin on eBay at about break even after my submission costs. Looks like the person that bought it resubmitted it and pcgs gave it a straight grade, but he submitted didn’t get a new trueview. The coin is very pretty in hand.
@idhair, those are striking. I can't decide which I like better. Have you posted these before? They look familiar.
Thanks for the information. From what the eBay seller told me, he got the straight grade (I guess it was a straight grade) but resubmitted it in hopes of getting a FB designation. He said something about a "color stripe" crossing the bands and that he thought that had prevented the FB designation. I'm not gonna try to get anything more but nothing about the coin makes me question the color. I agree it's very pretty in hand. Kind regards, George
Yeah, I thought the color was market acceptable myself, which is why I submitted it to begin with. Here is my post from when I got the grade back from PCGS: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-a-toned-coin.191715/page-405#post-2477663
