And then this one is a good teaching coin. The colors are approaching "terminal" or tarnish like a piece of silverware. The very deep blue with some black mixed in is a give away. I have had some that are just a little darker that PCGS considers too dark to grade. So I guess this one just got under the wire.
Agreed. I’ve had a couple intense emerald green Morgans too. Usually they’re 84-5-O tho. I don’t usually see this color in a cc one
Not all coins get equal recognition, and this is one. The color has been muted by what looks like moisture, which for New Orleans would be an every day occurrence. But there are golds, greens, and magentas in there. With the bright gold area it is possible that this was an end roll coin, but the moisture damage seems to make that less likely. And then there is the grade. Well drop the color out and it looks to me like PCGS got it right.
