Ah, I was wondering whether you were going to snag that one. I was fortunate enough to pick this one up. All of these 39-D and 40-S were originally from another seller on eBay. They were in those boards with tabs. I highly regret passing up on them. The whole 40-S board (10 coins) was $250 I think.
Man, it would have been sweet to pick that board of mercs up. I was thinking about bidding on one of the 1940S mercs, but I have three 1940S mercs already (trying to sell one off). The obverses on all those were out of this world!!! You picked up a really nice one. The obverse is as as nice as the obverse of the 1940S 67+FB that was posted (and did not sell).
Aw man I remember those boards, they were up for quite a bit if im thinking about the same ones. The sellers pictures made the coins all look dark and ugly so I passed on them. I'll be regretting that for a while haha
That looks quite a bit different that the "normal" high grade 39Ds you see. There was a hoard of 39D dimes that hit the market a little more than 20 years ago and this one does NOT look like the it's from that hoard. It is very unique in that sense...great coin! jom
Just a pretty lil Canadian thing. I'm not sure what happened to the obv. Still pretty and for $13 can't complain too much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nothing to write home about. Seeing as how these tone so well in their clamshells with the foam I just flip the coins and stick them back in the safe. I'll pull them back out in 5-10 years and see if there is any change on the surfaces. This one though...
I love this! I'm originally from Perrysburg, Ohio, and the Perry statue pictured on this coin spent much of its existence there. When the weather started to erode the statue, the State commissioned a copy and moved the original to the Perry Victory Monument in Put-in-Bay, pictured in the background. Kind of a neat little history lesson for CoinTalk in the morning.
