Cool color no matter what!! All I was saying 1964 Proof Lincoln memorial cents in high grades are not easy to get
Thanks MKent. It is Top Pop 2/0 for the Brown Designation. I have only had it for a couple of weeks and it has brought me plenty of joy, especially when I showed it around to folks at Summer FUN.
I stopped by a shop that I had not been to in about 4 years. It actually isn't far from me but it is small. I walked out with a new toy. I was actually watching an almost identical coin on eBay this weekend that sold for $66 but it was only PCGS PF66 RB and had some spots/streaks/distractions. This example has fewer distractions and I paid considerably less than the above mentioned example. I think that's a win! I spent way too much time on the photography tonight as I have had a plethora of challenges with the photography of proof toners through slabs recently and think I figured a few things out and did a little better on this one. I agree, I would have referred to it as wood grain toning had it not been for the proof coin and the great luster, making it look like a polished Tiger's Eye stone.
Woodies are definitely not excluded from proofs. Some of the prettiest coins I have seen are the early matte proofs - many are woodies. And;
