Got this in the mail today. I already posted it in the post your new acquisition world-ancient thread, but since I see a gorgeous toning of gun metal blue fading into rust red I gotta post it here. sellers pics.... better pics when my girlfriend gets home. German States/Baden, 1831 Thaler (Krone) KM#195.1 mintage-168,000 weight- 18.1480g or .5105oz. metal- .875 silver ruler- Leopold I, looks the same size as a Morgan dollar. my cost $271.00 I can not stop looking at it. I really like the griffins. I also feel like I am holding history in my hands.
Morgan dude do u have any idea what those weird white lines are under the TF on your coin?? Reason i ask is cause i have an 83o w lines just like that and some are recessed with chunks of medal missing.. i think mine is a strike thru of sorts just wondering if u knew what caused the lines on your coin?
I saw that one. Looks like someone spilled their coffee on their coin collection Didnt see what the ending price was.
I used to own a 40-D Mercury Dime with a very similar toning pattern. Must have been Starbucks bold on mine.
I wonder what kept if from 67, the weak strike (relatively), the pock mark on shoulder, or both? I think this coin probably gets MS67 from NGC. A refreshing change from the typical gold toning found on this date/mm. Nice coin!
