So............you like it...?.....? I just don't see how i could've gone wrong with this coin. It's a super desirable branch mint, and that toning looks unreal.
Fantastic looking coin Trey. I know the feeling about coins popping up. I have NOT been in the market for coins, but keep buying. The only way for me to stop this trend is to stop looking at the auctions. They keep sending me the damn auction catalogues!
The most recent frosting on proofs is not sandblasting. The dies are frosted using laser etching, which causes a large loss of detail and makes what has been called "snakeskin" finish proofs by some. It's a horrible backwards step in quality from the beautiful frosted proofs of the 1980s and 1990s.
I found a lovely toned WLH at a small local show this weekend. It resides in an old NGC generation 3 no-line fatty holder (slabbed circa 1988/1989).
Amen!! I'm not buying either!! Why did I just pick up 8 new coins this weekend? A local estate auction yielded 7 and I underbid a couple more I wish I'd got
New purchase only pic I got (sellers) wanted a toned low relief peace for my type registry set not the date I was looking for cause of the price but I couldn't resist the color I'll post more pics when I get it
Not toned per se, but to keep with the tone of my earlier post....this one arrived Saturday. It's for my type set. A well struck Flying Eagle. The breast feathers are full and the detail on the reverse is strong. I really am happy to have it....NOW, I'll quit buying for a while...wink, wink...
My photo came out with a little too much glare, the coin is quite proof-like and very colorful to you really need to shine the light right on it to get the colors to pop. Will likely have to try new photos someday... anyways, thought this would be a great week to post it here. Have a Happy Halloween!
And for reference and to better see the detail of the token, here's the white metal version of the token... even though it's the opposite of what belongs on this thread
