I like it as it has some wonderful color and overall tone. I'm not really sure how I feel about that straight edge part just yet... will have to keep looking at it for a little longer..........
Theres a couple hits on the neck and scratches to the left of it. But yes, in my opinion this is at least a 64 and is a beautiful coin. I have 3 or 4 1881S coins, all nicely struck and toned, but I wouldn't mind having this one too!
Yes and no. It is rather "same coin, different time". I had the coin in a Dansco album from roughtly 1993 to 2000 or so and the top photo shows what it looked like. I kept it out of the holder for 6 years or so and took it out later to photo earlier this year. That is the bottom photo. I think it was a mistake to put it back as now it almost looks "AT"...funny color. Before it had that typical Dansco look on nickel surface. I put the coin back into the same hole, which seems to be a bit magical. lol I put some other coin in that spot now...we'll see what "develops". Here are a couple of more from the same album: jom
I re imaged these two today for my registry. Both are 65 BN's. I take a little better pictures now and figured out how to save them so they blow up pretty big on NGC's registry picture guidelines. I am re imaging the whole set and I only get about five done a week. Each coin gets shot about 10-20 times and then the editing process begins, then the uploading, but it is happy work as I really enjoy my collection. I just tried a SPOT bulb instead of a flood type and it really helps "throw" the color into my camera lens. The angle the light hits the coin is the exact angle the color is reflected and that is where I try to put my camera lens, if that makes sense without a picture. Anyway, I thought these two would be enjoyed on this thread. Matt
Just picked up this nice 1964 mint set. I think it was a steal for $30, but then again, I am a sucker for toning. I especially like the cent. I like any toning with green in it.
Dutch, that is an amazing coin. Here's a recent on I had to come out of the cheap seats to get.... Think I overpaid, but it's still a nice looking coin.
Ikegwin; That is one awesome 1915 cent you have there. The strike is as sharp as can be and it could almost pass as a matte proof in my opinion. Perhaps it is and it has been certified wrong ! The toning is gorgeous. I would give this coin a MS66 or MS67! Very truly yours, Brenton (TheCoinCzar)
