That is some killer blue on that jeffie. Liking the other one too. Gorgeous as always. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I467 using Tapatalk
Greg, You're like a machine in finding these exceptionally nicely toned coins! The blue one is very cool! How does a nickel obtain that color through toning?
The 60's proofs are notorious for some amazing toning in their original government packaging. They range from the more common light yellows, oranges, pinks and blues to the solid ice blue toning. Here are a few examples. Here are some examples of much harder-to-find toned early proofs.
Cool brown toner, I had to get the light to cut through using angles so you can see the toning. I bought this from Coop a few years ago.
Thanks bro, only like 32k of these were made. The older Lincoln proofs are pretty tough to even find.
I know that for sure. One of the main things that I ask for when at coin shows. "Whaddya need son?" "Got any 30s to 40s Lincoln Proofs?" (Weird look on his face) "Nope" Usually when dealers do have them, I end up passing on them because of problems. Hazing spots and a lot of them have verdigris spots. I have bought some of my best proof lincolns through Ebay. here's my 42 toned proof.
HAHAHAHA....I've heard that a few times too, like 10,000. LMAO Then there's my fav local dealer that claims he can get anything I want. I told him to find me a 1936 proof.....that was like 10 years ago. I joke with him all the time about it. Nice toner proof!
It was some years ago but I once bought 182 of those in a single lot. I used them as give-aways, 5 or 6 at a time, for my friends and folks here on the forum.
