I think no problem at a 65 on the 1900, as I have dozens of less clean Morgans that are 65s, and this one is nicer. However, the only way I would get it is crack out, as I don't think there would be an upgrade on cross. Not worth the trouble, as the value is in the attractiveness of the coin, rather than the grade.
Picked up this one today--it is on its way. Absolutely awesome reverse. Note, there are scratches on the slab. It is a 66 in NGC plastic.
I'm sorry but I disagree with the Ms65 grade, maybe a 64 Star with NGC, or a CAC designation. The detail on the high points of the coin is where I see the problems. On the obverse above her ear is worn slightly and the breast on the obverse is the same IMO. Everything else about your comments I agree with, a true beauty just not an upgrade IMO.
Could NOT be "worn," if it is a MS coin. Could be minor contact marks, but certainly NOT wear. Whatever, not worrying about grade, even though my 40+ years of collecting Morgans tells me that the 64 is way low.
Rediscovering some of my coins. Got this one a year or two ago. I also have some ruddy pictures to share. As it turns out, I discovered my camera's lens is scratched. I gotta figure out a way for the DSLR to do axial photography now. Anywhoo, this is a 67 SMS dime. My first SMS toner. With the kodak that needs replaced Same coin just with a different method. Still ruddy.
I always neglected the modern Jeff's whenever I bought full Dansco's. I decided to start imaging them and found some with nice toning.
