I just completed a mini-project of going through 58 rolls of 1955-S Cents. Along with a bunch of RPMs, BIEs, etc I ended up with about a roll of nice Toners. The whole saga is documented here: http://www.lincolncentresource.net/forums/showthread.php?t=28358 But since this is a Toner thread, I thought I'd post 13 1955-S Toners I found in these rolls. A few others I found are documented in the thread above...
Does anyone know of any websites where you can buy toned coins for low prices? I bought one at a coin shop and now i'm addicted.
Hey DJ Shift; That is what happened to me after purchasing a monster toned Morgan Dollar a few years back! The obverse isn't toned at all, but the reverse, well that is another story! I was captivated by its natural toning after bringing it home and it grew and grew on me until I was afflicted with the toned coin syndrome! LOL... Now seeing a toned coin totally turns me on! I think I prefer looking at them more than a Playboy or Hustler!!! In answer to your question, I am not aware of any website or coin business who specializes in toned coins. Perhaps there are some other members here who can answer your query better than I. Good luck on your future toned coin finds.
That is the same thing that happenned to me yesterday when i purchased a toned silver Roosevelt at one of my favorite coin and antique shops. I haven't stopped staring at it since. Lol. I've been trying to get more but I keep getting outbid on them on Ebay.
Thanks Ray. I noticed a couple of years ago that Phil has a bias toward red, which is evident in this TrueView.
I'm not sure what the TrueView is, but mine (the bottom one) is 5000º, which is daylight. I'm using 2 daylight CFL bulbs.
Just scored a toned 1988 mint set at pawn shop for $6. In original package. Maybe this is common to find toned?, but I am amazed and bedazzled at the amount of toning on 1988 clads! Dime and nickel toned alot too, but the quarter is especially a killer.
