Thanks guys....for some reason the 1934 Lincolns are prone to toning. I have few that are really cool and I've seen many at shows and such. Here's one most of you have already seen I'm sure but it's worth showing again.
Thank bro....no...just a biz strike. Sadly, I don't own any matte proofs. I don't even have the elusive 1936 proof I've been hunting for over many years now. I've seen exactly ONE 1936 that met my standards at a big show and by then I'd spent almost all my money.....I can't tell you how sad I was. I should have left the show, got the money and came back. It's one of those collecting mistakes you regret for years. LOL
What a fantastic looking biz strike! Wow. It had me fooled, i thought it was an MPL. Such a sad story about the '36 proof. I know the feeling. Keep looking you'll find one eventually, Im sure. By the way, have you seen this fantastic collection of toned '36-'42 lincoln proofs by my good friend robec? http://robecsimages.com/prooflincolns.html He also has photos of the great Raisenet Collection of MPL's that he photographed here http://robecsimages.com/raisinet.html Some real eye candy.
Oh yea, I've drooled over Rob's coins too many times! He is one of my Lincoln heros! Him and Lance have some of the best collector eyes in the business!
I should also thank you for creating such a killer website. It's an awesome depository of eye candy, easy to navigate and just killer images.
I posted this in the New Aquisitions thread as I just bought this Saturday night ... paid $128, a bit of a premium over the guide price but I just had to have it. I love smooth, dark, & original toning like this -- not blotchy at all and no spots.
Actually it was a joint effort but 90% of the labor was by robec. All the coin photos were by robec. All I did were the banners and the navigation buttons. robec himself did all the html editing himself -- he picked that up amazingly fast. His coin photos are really great. (http://robecsimages.com)
All i did was cut and paste. We both know that without good direction and great script writing nothing would get done. Hey, it almost sounds like we're making a TV show.
The photography on those coins a wonderful, you have given me something to look at and enjoy for a long time.. Thanks...
