I hope that I'm understanding your definition of "Souvenir Set" correctly. Sorry if I'm not. I bought this Vatican set in a small coin shop in Venice, Italy in 1998. I spoke about 3 words of Italian and the dealer apparently didn't speak a word of English. Somehow the transaction occurred through gestures, writing, pointing at the calendar and little abstract diagrams. Since I had already purchased an Italian set, I knew that all coin sets at that time ran a year behind, which explains why it's dated 1997 and not 1998. I said "Vatican," thinking he would understand, but he looked at me like I had spoken absolute gibberish. I thought for a moment and finally said "Vaticano" with as much of an Italian accent as I could muster and his face instantly lit up and he reached in a drawer and pulled out the set pictured. I paid him, then in Lire, and the dealer had a look of absolute satisfaction on his face. I probably had the same look on my own face. It was a true feat of non-verbal communication. That still remains my favorite memory from that entire 2 week trip.
