    Has a beautiful champagne color.

This on is a really dark rainbow.
Started as blast white when I put it in a frame years ago.
The obverse of the coin was in contact with cheap paper behind the frame.
The reverse is still bright white.
Uglied up the coin pretty good IMO. The fingerprint doesn't help either... :)

    Edit:
Here is the same 43 with a flash photo...

Nice Appalachian Marauder! I love that coin. Here is the seller's photo of my most recent acquisition.

TY! I hope so. I will post photos as soon as I get it. I really only bought it because the reverse looks absolutely hammered. This coin might have the best defined details of Monticello I have ever seen on any Jefferson Nickel. It is a shame it doesn't have 6 full steps. There looks to be some significant abrasions on the jaw and coat that are limiting the grade.

The details on the 65's is almost always mushy from hub wear but your example is very nice. The reverse looks fantastic. Can we get a bigger photo. Here is an NGC MS66 for comparison.

Thanks lehigh, I'll post one tomorrow night for sure, you should see the 38' D I found while roll hunting, I started a thread for that one awhile ago.

Yeah, the 1938's were the first year of issue and make great type coins. Look what 30 years did to the quality of the mints product. And look what NGC considers an MS67 for each Denver coin.

What causes the nickel to get a pink tone (1957)? Is it the copper, environment, ????
    Thank you.

I agree with you there. The closeup shows blurring of the steps at the third column. Of course, some called Full Steps also appear to have blurring to me, so how could I know what a TPG will say?

Hello everyone! I found this on the very first roll of nickels I searched a week ago or so. Using the black book and my limited understanding it appears to be AU-50ish to me. The steps on Monticello are there however they are more visible on the ends and more worn in the middle. I was very excited to find this on my first roll search and now even more determined to keep at it!

Thats an awesome roll-searching find! Usually any pre-1960 nickels I find in rolls are total slugs.
