He advised my grandfather to take it into town the next time they went in and spend it in the mercantile. My grandfather was so moved by getting this long saved 2¢ piece that he kept it - for almost 80 years until he gave it to me in 1976 when he was 86. He knew that I collected coins, and he gave me this piece and shared the story of it. I also will say that much of the early stuff I have in my collection, Morgans etc. came from him. Now I have this coin still, and will hope to keep it all my life, along with the story behind it. It is an 1867, and I would say it grades about VF.
