My coin is an 1849/8 Seated Liberty Half Dime Events of 1849 include: First boatload of gold rush prospectors arrive in San Francisco from the East Coast. Abraham Lincoln applies for a patent; only U.S. President to do so. Gold Coinage act passed, allowing gold to be minted Harriet Tubman escapes from Maryland William Bond obtains first photograph of the moon through a telescope.
To get good pic's of a CAM coin try this.... Get lots of lights pointed at it....then take a BLACK book or such and hold it over top of the coin....maybe like a foot above it. Then take the photo at a side shot....not right down on it and see how it turns out. Sometimes it will turn out GREAT, and sometimes not so hot. Speedy

My favorite by far is a 54 Franklin that i traded with my friend quite a few years ago, I'll have to find the picture tomorrow. It's in abysmal shape, i traded it for a decent Eisenhower because i had another one, wanted something new i guess. Anyway, he died a few years ago in a car crash. I remember him saying his grandpa found it with a metal detector, his grandpa died in the same incident. Can't put a price on things like that. Apologies if this ruins the thread by using personal history, but it is my favorite no doubt.
At this time I really don't have any cool US Coins. I do have several, but nothing like what you guys are posting. I plan to start type set collection. Any ideas on where to start without spending a lot of dollars? I'm thinking of starting with the 5 cents, since I currently have less of these than anything else. Where do I go to find the coins other than the internet and ebay. As of now my favorite coin is a 2001 Ultimate Franc, or "un untime franc" as stated on the obverse. The reverse has only the number 1. The edge lettering has :Republique Francaise Starck Liberte Egalite Fraternite 2001" Its hard to see in the photo but the coin is intentionally struck warped. This is a very unique coin. It has a Matte finish which was bead blasted. 0.9800 Silver which has .5599 oz. ASW. Mintage was 49,838. The blemishes are from the plastic holder. I have searced high and low for a proper holder for this coin. Since it is warped, none of the regular coin holder will fit it.
