I had a package go missing years ago. I gave up on ever getting the coin but it showed up. It was in the front garden all the time. The driver threw it on my porch but a storm blew it in the garden. The package was all wet and muddy.
The seller called me a crook but changed his opinion when I sent an image of the package.

Paddy54 Hey brother can you spare a half dime?

Another thought lossed. This 1857 mule clash of FEC on seated quarter that went to postal limbo the 4th of July holiday... weekend that lasted a month...and need a call my representative to investigate.
    This was a great pick and I wasn't going to loose it. s-l1600-16.jpg 1857_fecent_rev2.jpg s-l1600-15.jpg s-l1600-17.jpg

A couple years ago, I saw this coin on ebay and decided to send the seller an offer of around $90. The seller responded with a counteroffer... of $42. I accepted of course!

A more recent one, picked this one up from my lcs for an absolute steal of $70. The most mirrored coin I have ever seen, and planning on sending to NGC to hopefully return as a DMPL. This one will stay in the collection regardless of the grade, just a beautiful coin.

Definitely this one. I owned this dollar for years and posted it here one day. One of our members commented that it was a very cool clash and oddly I had never noticed it before that…. Now it is all I see when I look at this old dollar.

Many years ago I started collecting coins with a nice clash. Few cared much for them and the prices were really low. This one was really bold and I just had to have it.

I generally get all giggly over most of my acquisitions, but these more so than others.

There will be more to follow I'm sure.

Back in 1960 when a cent had some value, this 14-D was given to me by a customer as part of the weekly paper route collection. At the time papers cost a nickel for the weekday edition and a quarter for Sundays. It remains my only 14-D.

I have to go with this one. Richard Yeoman wrote a classic article about this piece, 1848 CAL $2.50 gold. Retracing the journey the gold in this piece took, from San Francisco, down the coast to Columbia, over and across Panama, to Kingston, Jamaica, then to New Orleans and then probably on the southern railroads, it was quite a trip!

No story that I know. It’s unusual and it was in a dealer’s box so I brought it home.

This is a dopey one I got because homebrewing beer is another hobby of mine. It looks like a bottle cap. And it's silver. And it's fun. In my opinion. :)
